George Trevor McVeagh
Born at Drewstown, County Meath in 1908, he was educated at St. Columba’s College, Rathfarnham and Trinity College, Dublin.
He qualified as a solicitor , and showed great prominence as a sportsman, representing Ireland on more than seventy occasions in four different sports.
In 1938 he gained international caps for tennis, hockey, squash and cricket. It was under his captaincy that the Irish Hockey Team won the Triple Crown three years in succession, but an ankle injury ended his sporting career in 1939.
George McVeagh died at his home in Dublin on 5 July 1968.
